Vitamin B12... and energy?

For most of us a hectic work week can make or break you and by Friday you feel that there is nothing left in the tank. Life can sometimes get really hectic and if you carry on week after week and not focus on how you sleep, eat and train you quickly find yourself feeling like something is going to mentally or physically break any moment.

That is the time when most of us luckily realize that something needs to be done and one of the first thing your doctor might recommend is to go get a Vitamin B12 shot for energy. Technically there isn't any energy in B12. Mostly energy is carbohydrates that are converted at the final stage to glycogen and then used by the body as the energy we know. Just so you know from my side I would always recommend that even before you get a B12 shot that you first look at you diet. I am saying this because when you feel energized after getting a B12 shot it's not the B12 directly that gives you the energy but the way it regenerates and helps the energy systems in your body. One of the systems that B12 has an direct impact on is generating new red blood cells that transports oxygen throughout the body and most parts of your body needs oxygen for optimal function like your brain. One other important role B12 plays in the body is that it helps with the conversion of fat and carbohydrates in to usable energy. So if you think about it.... most parts of your daily routine needs energy like work, fitness and personal. If you want to lose weight, build muscle and shape your body you are going to need a proper diet and the minerals and vitamin that help metabolize the nutrients. If you want to stay sharp and focused at work the same applies.

You body needs B12 to support the critical functions in your body to produce energy and help you preform your daily tasks on a optimal level. So next time that you feel really tired and mentally worn down it will be a good idea to get yourself a B12 shot but remember if you want to get the best out of the B12 you have to give it something to use and that is only going to come out of your diet. If you ever felt the same after a B12 shot and nothing really happened to your energy levels it was probably because your body didn't have any nutrients to work with.

Hope this helps next time you need that boost of energy.

Stay Strong, Temple Training.
